Reinforced Stamet Black Kapton® Film

Since 1985 Dunmore Aerospace has been providing material solutions for the space industry. Our reinforced Stamet black Kapton® film (or reinforced SBK) is an RF-transparent, carbon-filled polyimide material. The outer layer is metalized with Stamet, while the black Kapton® side is reinforced with a lightweight Nomex® scrim to provide additional strength. This film is engineered for low to high temperature range applications.
Reasons to Choose Reinforced Stamet Black Kapton® Film
Reinforced Stamet coated black Kapton® is commonly used as outer-layer MLI blanket material and for single layer insulation for antenna cover applications. Reinforced coated black Kapton film® offers moderate absorptance and emittance values without attenuating RF signals. The electrically conductive black polyimide film provides additional charge dissipative properties to protect ESD-sensitive devices. Reinforced Stamet black polyimide is useful in applications where the natural strength or tear resistance properties of Stamet coated black Kapton® film are not sufficient for your mission requirements. Stamet, unlike reinforced germanium black Kapton® film is corrosion resistant, making it easier to store and handle.
Reinforced Stamet coated black Kapton® film is an excellent choice for:
- RF transparent applications
- Moderate solar absorptance and emittance
- High strength and durability
- Charge dissipation
- Applications where humidity and corrosion are a concern
