Reinforced Germanium Coated Black Kapton® Film

Since 1985 Dunmore Aerospace has been providing material solutions for the space industry. Our reinforced germanium coated black Kapton® film is an electrically conductive, carbon-filled polyimide film that offers RF-transparent thermal insulation with moderately high solar absorptance and emittance. One side of the film is coated with Germanium (Ge), and the black Kapton® side is reinforced by a lightweight Nomex scrim that provides extra durability. This product is typically used where RF transparency and higher strength is critical.
Reasons to Choose Reinforced Germanium Black Kapton® Film
Reinforced germanium coated black Kapton® film is commonly used as single layer insulation (SLI) and MLI blanket material for antenna cover applications in low to high temperature applications. Germanium offers excellent radiative thermal resistance without attenuating RF signals. The carbon-filled film can bleed stray surface charges without damage to ESD-sensitive devices. Reinforced germanium black Kapton® film is useful in applications where the natural strength or tear resistance properties of germanium coated black Kapton® film are not sufficient for your mission requirements.
Reinforced germanium coated black Kapton® Film is an excellent choice for:
- RF transparent applications
- Moderate solar absorptance and emittance
- High strength and durability
- Charge dissipation
