From 1000 to 1500 volt, Dunmore is the experienced partner for your PV backsheet needs.

Dunmore understands that PV backsheets are a critical dielectric component in improving your overall solar module performance. For over 30 years Dunmore has been delivering next-generation, innovative products through:

  • DUN-SOLAR specialized PV backsheet product line
  • Custom solutions for unique module designs

PV BacksheetDUNMORE offers DUN-SOLAR PV backsheets to the photovoltaic market as a component for the production of monocrystalline, polycrystalline, CPV and thin film solar modules. DUN-SOLAR PV backsheet materials protect photovoltaic modules from UV, moisture and weather. They insulate the electrical load of the modules, which can operate up to 1500 VDC. These functions are essential for the photovoltaic modules functionality, longevity and safety of people who work with and near the module.

To ensure that all PV-Modules meet the necessary requirements, they must pass the qualification standards such as IEC 61215, IEC 61730, IEC 61646 and UL 1703. DUN-SOLAR PV backsheet products are developed, produced and tested in conformance with all common standards and regulations. Dunmore works very closely with the world famous Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE located in Freiburg Germany near our European headquarters and manufacturing plant also in Freiburg.

PV Backsheet Construction

DUN-SOLAR photovoltaic backsheet are designed with various constructions using only the highest quality materials. Dunmore's superior adhesive and laminating technology provides exceptional bonding of all layers in the PV backsheet along with superior UV stability. Typically, PV backsheets can be produced to your thickness requirements. Whether you need a PV backsheet that is under 300 microns or your solar backsheet has to be over 300 microns, Dunmore can meet your solar module specifications.

Various PV BacksheetsDunmore offers various PV backsheet constructions such as Military Spec TPT and TPE using DuPont Tedlar®, DUN-SOLAR PPE+ and Ultra-clear all polyester constructions and a range of specialty products for high voltage up to 1500 VDC, and thin film applications. In addition to our standard products, DUNMORE works with customers to develop products to meet their specific application needs.

All DUN-SOLAR PV backsheets are:

Benefits of Using DUN-SOLAR PV Backsheets

  • Improved module efficiency through optimized reflectance characteristics
  • Excellent stability under damp heat and freeze-thaw conditions
  • Superior bond strength across environmental extremes
  • Robust bond to EVA encapsulant and POE encapsulant
  • Chemically resistant
  • Flatness of PV backsheet materials - minimizes waste and improves processing

PV Backsheets for California Class A to Class C Fire Rating

Starting in 2015, California building code required solar modules to be included in the fire rating of building roof systems. Under the UL 1703 test standard, solar modules are classified as Class A, Class B, or Class C. Within each fire rating class, Dunmore can provide a type 1 backsheet and type 2 pv backsheet solution. The PV backsheet plays an important role to ensure your solar module meets the stringent requirements to install solar modules in California. Dunmore looks forward to working with you to design and choose the correct backsheet that will pass the UL 1703 test and achieve the fire rating class required for your project.
