Fluoropolymer Film Adhesion-promoting Technologies

Fluoropolymer Film Adhesion-promoting Technologies

ETFE Film ApplicationsDunmore's adhesion promoting-technologies deliver increased functionality for fluoropolymer film manufacturers and application engineers by enabling their substrates to be used in new applications that require printability, surface modification, and multilayer laminations. The adhesion promoting technologies enable our partners to add both aesthetics and functionality through surface modification and multi-layer laminations to realize increased functionality from a thin-film construction.

Dunmore has been processing fluoropolymer films for over 15 years and continues to solve unique material science challenges with our partners as they look to enter new markets with these technical materials. Dunmore proprietary adhesion-promoting technologies enable our customers to advance the use of these high performance materials.

Improve the Surface Energy with Dunmore's Suite of Technologies

ETFE Surface Enhancement to Increase Surface Energy
  • Dunmore can improve the surface energy of the fluorinated films to 50 dynes. High dyne levels can be maintained for extended periods.
  • Dunmore has a family of bonding adhesives to help you adhere ETFE film to other substrates and surfaces.
  • Create new design aesthetics now that you can print on ECTFE film or PTFE film.

    Fluoropolymer Architectural Applications

Fluoropolymer films are being used more frequently in architectural applications. The film based membrane structures offer insulation, weight and structural benefits over traditional construction materials. ETFE film based roof applications are self-cleaning and provide increased support under heavy loads, making them ideal for applications with heavy rain or snowfall. ETFE film is also resistant to degradation when exposed to ultraviolet light over long periods of time.

    Fluoropolymer Transportation Applications

Fluoropolymer substrates can be found protecting the inside of mass transit vehicles worldwide. In both air and rail applications where the high traffic environment is susceptible to wear and tear from frequent use, robust fluoropolymers add increased durability and cleanability of the interiors.

    Applications Beyond Fluoropolymer Films

Dunmore's adhesion promoting technologies can be applied to a number of additional substrates. Fluoropolymer films are engineered with a low coefficient of friction to prevent materials from adhering to them and tend to be more challenging to coat and laminate. Dunmore's experience with laminating a variety of dissimilar substrates extends beyond fluoropolymers for a broad range of applications and industries.
