Stamet Coated Kapton® Film

Since 1985 Dunmore Aerospace has been providing material solutions for the space industry. Stamet coated Kapton® film is a polyimide-based material with Stamet coated on one side. Stamet is a silicon aluminum alloy that provides excellent RF-transparent optical and thermal properties. Stamet coated polyimide film has a relatively low α / ϵ value and is typically used as single layer insulation (SLI) and the outer layer of multilayer insulation blanket applications.
Reasons to Choose Stamet Coated Kapton® Film
Stamet coated Kapton® is an excellent choice for thermal management applications that require RF transparency and moderately low absorptance to emittance values. It is often used in antennae cover applications where it provides thermal insulation without attenuating radio signals. Unlike germanium coated Kapton® film, Stamet Kapton® film is less susceptible to moisture and corrosion. This makes it an easier material to handle, transport, and store.
Stamet coated Kapton® is an excellent choice for:
- RF-transparent thermal insulation of antennas
- Moderately low α / ϵ applications
- Moderately low to high temperature applications
- Applications where oxidization or water intrusion is a concern
