Nomex® Reinforced Black Kapton® Film

Nomex Reinforced Black Kapton Film - Satellite MLI

Since 1985 Dunmore Aerospace has been providing material solutions for the space industry. Nomex® reinforced black Kapton® film is a carbon-filled polyimide film reinforced by a lightweight Nomex® scrim on one side. Nomex® scrim is selected for its heat resistance and superior strength properties. The material provides high absorptance and emissivity values and is an excellent choice for high temperature applications.

Reasons to Choose Nomex® Reinforced Aluminized Kapton® Film

Nomex® reinforced black Kapton® film is typically used as outer-layer MLI material for applications that require high durability while offering high solar absorptance and IR emittance. The reinforced black polyimide film additionally provides charge-dissipation for protection against stray charge buildup. The Nomex® scrim strengthens the film and prevents tearing that can be caused by handling or articulating components.

Nomex Reinforced Black Kapton Film is an excellent choice for:

  • Outer-layer MLI material for high durability and / or temperature applications
  • Charge dissipation
  • Stray light mitigation
