Since 1985 Dunmore Aerospace has been providing material solutions for the space industry. Our ITO coated aluminized white Kapton® film is constructed of white polyimide film with an ITO coating on one side and an aluminum coating on the opposite side. The material is typically used for the outer layer of multi-layer insulation blankets. The material provides a cold sink temperature in environments with sun impingement while reducing infrared radiation losses internal to the MLI blanket. The material provides an additional benefit of dissipating surface charge build-up.

Reasons to Choose ITO Coated Aluminized White Kapton ® Film

Similar to our aluminized white Kapton® film, ITO coated aluminized white polyimide film is used in applications where sun impingement is expected and low sink temperatures are required. With the aluminized interior surface, this film is typically used in single-layer or multi-layer insulation on spacecraft to reduce infrared radiation losses. The ITO layer will dissipate surface charges that pose a risk to nearby electronics or personnel that are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. The material has a wide range of operating temperature, making it an ideal choice for hot environments like planetary surfaces.

ITO coated aluminized white polyimide films is an excellent choice for:

  • Medium absorptance and high emissivity applications
  • Moderately low to high temperatures
  • An alternative to white paints and coatings
  • Mitigating electrostatic build-up
